Field Services Technician/Driver - Commercial Furniture

Position Purpose: Professionally performs specialized service, warranty and repair work on customer product. Deliver and install furniture orders to customers.

 

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with customer's regarding their service work requests and schedule appointments as required.
  • Determine what parts and labor is necessary to resolve the service issue.
  • Identify whether a service order is a warranty issue covered by the manufacturer, or billable to the customer.
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines for product replacement under warranty.
  • Billable service orders must be quoted to the customer and authorized by the customer prior to ordering parts and/or product.
  • Complete service orders and obtain signed customer acceptance.
  • Track open service orders and maintain current status report.
  • Communicate with sales and support staff on open service orders as needed.
  • Support Service Department goals and objectives.

 

  • Assist with field installations, as requested.
  • Deliver level of service to ensure repeat customer business.
  • Review delivery schedule and route prior to leaving the warehouse, obtain driving directions if necessary.
  • Assess what equipment is necessary for the day's deliveries and make sure everything required is in the truck.
  • Make certain the customer receives excellent service
    • Introduce yourself
    • Verify set up and placement instructions
    • Set up furniture and wipe all surfaces clean
    • Have the customer inspect their order and note any issues
    • Obtain the customers signature on delivery paperwork
    • Thank them for their business.
  • All deliveries require the receipt signature of the recipient and signed delivery paperwork turned into the warehouse office personnel daily.
  • Product that is returned to the warehouse must be labeled with a Disposition sheet, and warehouse supervisor notified of returned product.

    • Proficiency in use of desktop software
    • Professional conduct and appearance
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization
    • Maturity to work with little or no supervision and establish priorities
    • Above average planning, organizational and time management skills
    • Commitment to safety in all work practices
    • Adherence to all company policies and rules
    • Ability to foster a team spirit and cooperative attitude towards coworkers
    • Availability and willingness to work overtime as required

     

     

    Physical and Mental Requirements:

    • Able to lift and carry 75 lbs at various times throughout the day
    • Capable of bending, reaching and climbing a ladder
    • Skillful in dealing with difficult customer personalities and situations

     

     

    Education, Licenses and Certification:

    • Valid Missouri drivers license
    • Customer -oriented, ability to provide excellent customer service.
    • Class E Chauffers' license
    • Proof of automobile insurance
    • Favorable background check
    • Negative drug / alcohol test results
    • Some college or technical training preferred
